Food Therapy

It was Hippocrates way back in 400 B.C. nailed the truth by his wise adage: "Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food." The second half of his statement doesn't mean that medicine can be our food. No one by taking medicines can claim to enjoy robust health. Our physical health mainly depends on a natural way rather than artificial injecting of medications. The second half really emphasizes his first half thereby reiterating the truth that food should be our mainstay for our health.
We are at this present modern age, too much addicted to consuming medications. These range from those 'prescribed' by well meaning physicians as well as consumer consumption of an alarming proportion of over the counter medications. This all leads to poor health and by no means what our body requires.

Food can really be made a great vehicle to achieve our health. We can term this as 'Food Therapy.' What really we are trying to do is to make honest and sincere, at the same time well-planned and properly grounded on proper researches in this field, moves to attain our objective of a good, enduring physical health.

The first step is to convince ourselves that it is a very essential step for good health. Good health is not a 'pie in the sky' concept. It is certainly within the reach many of us to achieve and maintain this almost all our lives. If it sounds a little far fetched, don't write yourself off. You can be in, and enjoy the benefits of putting into operation a plan for good health based on a 'food as our first line of defense  concept.

Let me explain. If you have some kind of health and not subject to frequent or even occasional illness, you are in a good position to reap a good benefit by getting into this plan. 'Prevention is better than cure' is a very accurate and time-tested wise saying. Before major health problems like heart disease, arthritis, diabetes or Alzheimer take control of your body, you can shield it with good eating habits. That is a wise preventive method.

Unfortunately if your situation is some what different and you seem to have minor problems like getting cold and coughs frequently, head-aches, back aches and the like, you can certainly benefit by 'food therapy.' If you have a major problem, you have to rely on professional help.

Generally speaking 'food therapy' works best as a preventive measure, and to get rid of smaller health issues.
